Type of life jacket
There are three kinds of life jackets: plastic, kapok and inflatable
① Plastic life jacket
The most commonly used life jacket is made of sealed foam plastic as the buoyancy material and thin canvas as the outer covering material. It is simple to make, convenient to wear, and durable. When wearing it, put it on your neck, fasten your belt, and tighten your neckband.
② Kapok life jacket
About 1Kg pure kapok is used as the buoyancy material. The kapok is wrapped into many small bags with waterproof materials, distributed in each part of the life jacket, and thin canvas is used as the outer coating material. The kapok life jacket has good warmth retention, and is often used by ships in cold regions. It should be noted that if the waterproof material is damaged and the kapok is directly soaked in seawater, the floating time will be greatly affected.
③ Inflatable life jacket
The whole life jacket has two independent air chambers, one of which can also meet the requirements of buoyancy if it loses its function. The air chamber is equipped with a pneumatic tube, and the two sides of the chest are provided with an inflating tube to blow air with the mouth; Some use mechanical blowing. The inflatable life jacket is small in size, which is easy to engage in various operations after wearing and is only allowed to be used by the crew.
Wearing of life jackets
Both sides of the life jacket on the boat can be worn and used equally. The person wearing the life jacket can rotate his body to a safe floating position to make his body lean back and float, his face above the water, and his mouth at least 12 cm above the water. All passengers on the yacht must wear life jackets correctly to ensure safety.
The specific wearing method of the life jacket is: Before wearing the plastic (ordinary) life jacket, check the buoyancy bag, collar belt, belt, etc., and they should not be damaged. Put the life jacket under the head cover, place the big side of the buoyancy bag in front of the body, wrap the belt from the left and right sides to the back respectively, and tighten it in front of the chest and tie a knot (tie a flat knot when saving life).
